Study Florida’s Focus on Safety

A top priority for all of Florida's college and universities is keeping our students safe. While specific safety practices vary by institution, all Study Florida members have the following:

  • Police officers or security guards on campus whenever classes are in session, or more likely, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year.

  • Access to mental health resources for students

  • Active Behavioral Intervention Teams intervene to help students before a situation turns tragic

  • Rules against carrying firearms on campus

  • Timely warnings/Communication systems to keep students informed of any potentially dangerous situations

  • Training for students and staff on what to do in the event of an active shooter on campus
