Airports
The State of Florida is serviced by two major international airports, smaller international airports, and many regional airports.
Large, well-known international airports:
Miami International Airport (MIA)
Orlando International Airport (MCO)
Other large International airports:
Tampa International Airport (TPA)
Jacksonville International Airport (JAX)
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
Many other Florida cities are services by very convenient international and regional airports. Your University's International Student office will be able to give your best airport options for your city.
Trains
Unlike many countries, train service is sparse to non-existent outside of major metropolitan areas. Amtrak offers passenger train service between a few large Florida cities: Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, Miami and a few points in between.
Buses
Like Amtrak, Greyhound buses link Florida's main cities with smaller cities.
Automobiles
The United States prides itself in independence. Part of that cultural phenomenon materializes as America's love affair with the automobile. You will find the United States' road system to be amongst the most extensive and well-maintained in the world. While it is not necessary for a university student to have a car, in some cases, life is easier with a car. In other cases, a car complicates life (an urban University, for instance). You can make this decision for yourself once you have arrived at your university.
